A Passion For Silversmithing

Smitten by Silver!  I’m a firm believer that as you travel through life you discover something that ignites a passion in you - and sometimes it’s more than one thing.  A passion for plants inspired my business - Posh Plants - my online shop which is all about my love for all things plants and gifts. 

However, many years ago I’d just left Norwich School of Art where I experienced working with silver for the very first time.  My tutor, Harry Webster, had a wealth of knowledge and experience and patiently led me, step by step, through the many techniques of making a cylindrical silver box with a fitted lid.  I became totally smitten by silver, the hardness and yet the softness of it too, the colour of it...shiny, matt, dull, cherry red when heated and cream when cooled. It is malleable; it can be textured, twisted, hammered and even plaited!

I still have that silver box and it will always be very precious to me.  I think I always knew that one day, when the time was right, I’d return to silversmithing.  Fast forward to now and to Silver Leaves Jewellery - my very own silver jewellery collection designed and created right here in Norfolk.  My inspiration comes from the natural world that surrounds me - the plants and trees and the structure of their leaves as well as, of course, the landscape and coastline of my beloved home county. From bangles and bracelets; from rings to earrings and even quartz drop jewellery too.  My work feels ‘fluid’ and ‘organic’ and is worked not only in silver, but gold and copper as well.

All my work is assayed with my own personal hallmark by the London Assay Office and I’m proud to announce that for 2022 it will include an extra mark to commemorate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee...this is something really special to me and I’m so proud to think that my work will carry this mark!
